Cuba and Angola: An Exemplary Friendship
Angola and Cuba are a symbol of friendship. Our sons shed their blood and fought together for the independence of this African country, where today both Cubans and Angolans cooperate to achieve greater development, said Alicia Corredera, Vice President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) during a welcoming ceremony at the headquarters of Angolas Association of Friendship and Solidarity with Peoples (Laasp).

Our sons shed their blood and fought together for the independence of this African country, where today both Cubans and Angolans cooperate to achieve greater development, said Alicia Corredera, Vice President of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) during a welcoming ceremony at the headquarters of Angolas Association of Friendship and Solidarity with Peoples (Laasp).
"The friendship between the two countries is at its best moment nowadays and this second visit is an expression of our intentions to strengthen and widen solidarity and cooperation ties", Corredera said after Laasp interim president Elias Disengomokas welcoming address.
Corredera, who is paying a visit to Angola since Friday, recalled the 3rd African Gathering of Solidarity with Cuba that was held in 2010 in Angola.
She spoke about the Institutions challenges this year and stressed the need to multiply actions everywhere to demand the release of the Cuban anti-terrorist fighters who are held in U.S jails.
She added that one of the top priorities for ICAP this year is to organize the 3rd World Gathering of Solidarity with Cuba, set for October 27-31 in Havana.
"We expect Angola to attend with a delegation including different sectors of society, and about 300 African delegates will be present," she added.
During her stay, Corredera will also visit some places of historical interest and meet with members of the Cuban community residing in the country.
