Abstention of United States at UN Vote on the US Blockade against Cuba shows its isolation in the international arena, considered today the French writer and university professor, Salim Lamrani.
'For the first time since 1992, First year of the initial presentation of the Cuban Resolution demanding the elimination of restrictive measures imposed since 1960, Washington decided to abstain, recognizing in this way the failure of its hostility policy towards the Cubans and the reality of its isolation in the international arena, he argued.
In an article, the essayist highlighted that by chance number 25, almost all of the international community (191 countries out of 193) voted in favor of the end of the blockade imposed by the United States to the Caribbean nation for more than 50 years.
Lamrani noted 'US historic vote' is in keeping with the measures implemented by the government of Barack Obama since December 17, 2014, as part of restoration of bilateral dialogue.
In this regard, he recalled that several positive actions taken by the US administration, despite of which the blockade continues to apply with the same force and continues as the main obstacle to the development of the island.
'When his last term reaches the end, the US president has not used its prerogatives as Chief of the Executive to dismantle the network of economic sanctions, 'he stressed.
In this regard, he explained that the White House could restore trade between US and Cuban companies, authorize US investments in the Caribbean country, and allow Cuba to acquire certain products in the northern neighbor market, among other issues.
However, he added, the blockade continues and this represents a serious violation of the international law, plus it raises the firm rejection of the international community.
