The celebration of the first 100 years with Fidel begins on August 13th, said Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, this Thursday.
On his account on the social media platform X, the president recalled the legacy of Fidel Castro Ruz (1926-2016), a historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, and regarding his upcoming birthday, he stated: "We cannot say that he has been reborn on the eve of his 99th birthday, because Fidel has lived among us since 1926."
"How beautiful these days are, reflecting on an infinite work like the dignity of Cuba," the president said, referring to the events taking place across the country to mark the anniversary. He used the hashtags #FidelViveEntreNosotros and #100AñosConFidel in his post.
A broad program of activities is being held in Cuba in honor of the centennial of Fidel's birth, with the aim of promoting the study of his thought, strengthening national identity, and mobilizing new generations around his legacy.
From August 13, 2025, to December 4, 2026, the initiative includes cultural, historical, educational, and community activities throughout the country, with youth participation and popular participation.
