Academics Moise Benjamin, from Guadeloupe, and Nicole Cage, from Martinique, will participate in the International Colloquium on Cultural Biodiversity in the Caribbean, which was organized by Cuba''s Casa de las Americas and due to begin on Monday.

Studies on nature, the environment, and problems linked to climate change that are affecting the world and the region in particular are among the issues to be addressed in the meeting, which is dedicated to inter-Caribbean migration and Afro-descendants.

Cage, Benjamin, and Cuban Denia Garcia Ronda will take part in a panel dealing with Caribbean literature for children.

A roundtable talk on the African presence in the Caribbean will be held as well, coinciding with the International Year of Afro-descendants.

The colloquium, summoned by Casa de las Americas' Center for Caribbean Studies, is sponsored by the UNESCO Regional Office.
