UNICEF Representative Honored in Havana

The award, given yesterday by the Cuban Ministry of Culture, served to recognize Ortiz work in promoting the rights of children and youth through various programs of social and cultural development, said Granma newspaper.

During the investiture and farewell ceremony, culture minister, Rafael Bernal, acknowledged the dignitary sensitivity to understand Cuban spiritual life and to foster collaboration with institutions, artists and intellectuals for infants.

The ceremony was attended by Herman van Hooff, Director of the UNESCO Regional Office for Culture, as well as Cuban intellectuals and artists.
