Russia Launches New Fidel Castro''s Biography
The launch of the book "Fidel Castro Biografía de un Patriota" (Fidel Castro Biography of a Patriot), by Maxim Makarishev, today ratified admiration of many generations of Russians for the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, and the lasting friendship between the two peoples.

The launch of the book "Fidel Castro Biografía de un Patriota" (Fidel Castro Biography of a Patriot), by Maxim Makarishev, today ratified admiration of many generations of Russians for the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, and the lasting friendship between the two peoples.
Speaking at the event, Cuban ambassador to Russia, Emilio Lozada, stated that this work continues the political biography of the author of "La Historia me absolvera" (History will Absolve Me), written in 1999 by retired Lieutenant Colonel Nikolai Leonov and historian Vladimir Borodaev.
Lozada highlighted the Leonov's presence in front of dozens of veterans of the October missile crisis of 1962, other internationalists, journalists, and figures invited to the cultural event, held at the theater of the Rossiskaya Gazeta official newspaper.
As a translator of Fidel Castro during his first visit to the Soviet Union more than 50 years ago, Leonov was a witness of his assessment about the battle of Stalingrad as the most glorious event of humanity, he recalled.
The diplomat stressed that the new biography written by Makarishev, representative of a younger generation, shows the continuity of the lasting friendship between the brother peoples of Cuba and Russia.
Referring to the book, he described it as a testimony of that friendship and a honorable tribute to the man, the revolutionary, the leader who began those warn and fraternal relations between Cuba and Russia.
On the other hand, Leonov retold anecdotes of the visit for more than 40 days to the Soviet Union of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, the longest one made by a head of State throughout the Russian and Soviet history, he stated.
