The President of Bolivia, Evo Morales, saluted today the agreement between Cuba and the United States to normalize their relations, and considered that it is the result of the unity of the world with the Caribbean nation.
'The restoration of relations between the US and Cuba is not anyone's concession, it is the world's unity around Cuba after 53 years of exclusion, marginalization, condemning' he said during a ceremony at the Government Palace.
Morales illustrated his approach by taking as example the final vote in the UN General Assembly against the economic, financial and commercial blockade by Washington, which was rejected by 188 of the 193 members of this body.
For the president the agreement between the two countries left as teaching that one should never abandon the ancestors' principles.
'How important was the perseverance, the unity, never to give up on the basis of our principles. Cuba has proved this. That strength without bowing down," added Morales.
Cuban President Raul Castro and his US counterpart, Barack Obama, announced yesterday their decision to restore bilateral relations as well as the release of the three Cuban counterterrorist fighters, and other prisoners.
The agreements have caused a strong repercussion in the international press, while rulers, politicians, personalities and organizations around the world are pleased with the rapprochement between the two countries.
