All ten permanent commissions of the Cuban Parliament opened working sessions Thursday, prior to the ordinary session of the eight legislature to take place on Saturday.
During two days, the legislators will debate significant issues related to the transformations underway in Cuban society and they will be updated on specific information by the presidency of the National Assembly.
The members of the recently renewed commissions will gather at the Conventions Center and at the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences.
The ten parliamentary commissions are in charge of fields such as Youth, Children and Equality of Women’s Rights; Services; Economic Issues; Health and Sports; Constitutional and Legal Issues; Food and Agriculture; International Relations; Education, Culture, Science and the Environment; Industry; Construction and Energy, and National Defense.
The current National Assembly was set up on February 24th and its eight legislature includes 612 democratically-elected deputies, who represent all 168 Cuban municipalities.
