The V University Social Forum will honor here next March former Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and Cuban intellectual Alfredo Guevara, who both died in 2013, official sources reported today.
A few days before the first anniversary of the physical disappearance of the Latin American leader, the meeting will facilitate reflections on his political legacy to the left-wing forces of the continent, particularly among young people.
The academic sessions and other meetings will evoke ethical and aesthetic imprint of Guevara, former president of the Cuban Institute of Cinematographic Art and Industry, with significant depth among the younger generation, especially those linked to cultural activities.
A multidisciplinary approach, from the sciences to the most pressing problems of the situation in Latin America is in the middle of the call for this fifth edition, taking place from 24 to 28 March at the university campus in the city.
Under the maxim "we discussed to reflect, act to transform", participants will analyze student protests for the right to higher education, the international economic crisis and alternatives, political and cultural industry, democracy, institutions and citizen participation.
