The Cuban First Vice President Miguel Diaz-Canel, today stressed the strength of ties and cooperation with Venezuela at meetings held in Caracas with leaders of the Bolivarian Revolution.
Diaz-Canel, who leads in this capital a Cuban delegation attending the Ninth Extraordinary Summit of Petrocaribe, held talks with the head of the National Assembly (Parliament) and vice president of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), Diosdado Cabello.
On the Cuban side, the Deputy Foreign Minister, Rogelio Sierra and the Ambassador of the island to Caracas Rogelio Polanco, also participated in these talks.
Cabello was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Victor Clark.
In a similar fraternal atmosphere, Diaz-Canel also met with the Venezuelan Vice President for Planning and Knowledge and People's Minister for Planning, Ricardo Menéndez.
The day before, Diaz-Canel and the Cuban delegation attended various events commemorating the second anniversary of the death of the Bolivarian leader Hugo Chavez.
Upon arriving in Caracas, Diaz-Canel stated that Commander Hugo Chavez was and is a true friend, and as Fidel Castro said, the best friend Cuba has ever had.
He highlighted the level of bilateral relations, which is expressed in mutual cooperation, materialized, among other forms of aid, in the presence of some 40 thousand Cuban collaborators in the South American country.
Commenting on Petrocaribe, Diaz-Canel referred to the altruistic gesture of Venezuela, that once again expressed its willingness to continue this integrationist, humanistic, social and solidarity project amid a complex situation.
The Cuban delegation participating at the Summit of Petrocaribe includes Minister of Energy and Mines, Alfredo Lopez and Deputy Foreign Trade Minister, Roberto Lopez.
