Yeidckol Polevnsky, general secretary of the National Regeneration Movement has said that Fidel Castro was the greatest leader of the 20th century and up until now, the 21st century also.
Polevnsky made the exclusive statement to Prensa Latina, while participating in an event convened in front of the Cuban embassy by the Mexican Movement of Solidarity with Cuba, to commemorate the death of the historic leader of the Revolution.
'Fidel fought not only for Cuba but also for Africa, Latin America and for many other peoples around the world; he has been always on the side of the subjugated and he also supported the Non-Aligned Movement,' she stressed.
'His figure has gone beyond political parties, countries and ideologies,' she added.
Polevnsky went on to say that, 'in terms of education and health, the Caribbean island is ranked first in Latin America; neither the United States nor any other nation has this status.'
Sometimes Cubans themselves do not value how much they have and only when they leave their country they realize what they have, Fidel's internationalism has been very important,' she said.
'His legacy is very great, he is an example to follow for citizens, parties, governments and for the whole world,' she said.
'The people of Mexico have always been with Cuba and Cuba with Mexico, we once had a foolish president, Vicente Fox, who did not achieve anything with his attitude because the people united in supporting Commander-in-Chief Fidel.'
'Fidel has left us a legacy that is now necessary to honor,' she concluded.
