The Association of Cuban Residents in Venezuela (Accreven) highlighted here the Barrio Adentro Mission as one of the best examples that: Latin American integration is not only possible but necessary.
In a statement on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of that social program, promoted by Commanders Hugo Chávez (1954-2013) and Fidel Castro (1926-2016), the association stressed that it does not only serve in the field of health but also to build consensus.
In addition, it said, to rethink the integration agreements in terms of achieving endogenous national and regional development that eradicates poverty, corrects social inequalities and ensures a growing quality of life for the people.
What in its beginnings was aimed at attending the most needed in the outskirts of the Bolivarian capital, has become today part of a national health system, based on the principles of primary attention and the development of prevention and promotional programs for the attention of individuals, families and communities, the Accreven stated.
The text acknowledged that Barrio Adentro Mission, which emerged on April 16, 2003 from an initiative in the Libertador municipality, in Caracas, had quickly spread throughout the national territory, with the titanic task of bringing to reality and guaranteeing the right to health for all Venezuelans.
