The National Commission of Candidatures announced that the number of women candidates to deputies at The National Assembly of People''s Power increased to 299.
That figure constitutes the 48.8 percent of total amount, exceeding the 266 (43.3) who hold the seats at the current Parliament, said marilys Perez, president of the entity.
Perez said that the 612 candidates nominated to form the Parliament for its Eighth Legislature (2013-2018) exceed the previous one, with a 67 percent.
Granma daily quoted Perez as saying that all Cuban society, state, and non state sectors will be represented at the Assembly.
More than 30 percent of candidates to the National Assembly of People's Power are directly linked to production and services, including workers, farmers, farming cooperative members, and teachers.
Doctors, scientists, writers, artists, religious leaders, students, students, directors of productive entities, Revolutionary Armed Forces, and Interior Ministry combatants, political leaders, and others, are also among the candidates.
