Cuba criticized at the United Nations the lack of commitment and political will to confront the serious and urgent economic and social problems Africa is facing.
Although 60 percent of this organization peace and security activities involve African states, it has not met the appropriate role to help and protect the millions of people in need in Africa, she pointed out.
Speaking yesterday at a session of the General Assembly on the issue of peaceful solution of conflicts in Africa, the Cuban diplomat Yadira Ledesma said that the unwillingness is particularly manifested in the most powerful countries.
She stated that Africa is one of the clearest examples of the disastrous consequences of colonialism and neocolonialism, of the current unjust and exclusionary international order of interventionism and unequal exchange.
Nowadays, about 5.000 Cuban colaborators are working in Africa, including more than 3.000 in the health sector, while medical cooperation reached 35 of the 54 African countries, she added.
