Representatives of member nations of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA) highlighted today in Nicaraguja the importance of this integration mechanism, and the way it has boosted solidarity and cooperation between these countries.
During a conference held at the National Assembly on occasion of the 10th anniversary of ALBA, the ambassatrice of Ecuador to Managua, Aminia Buenaño, alluded to the principles of solidarity, respect for sovereignty and social development of its peoples promoted by the grouping.
In her opinión, since the foundation of ALBA in 2004, it has evolved in the creation of ways that strengthen cooperative advantages of its members through compensation of the asymmetries to which they were subjected historically.
Referring to the development of the complementary economic zone boosted together with Petrocaribe and initiatives like the ALBA Bank and the Unified System of Regional Compensation of Payments (Sucre) the diplomaqt extolled the advances in the peoples quality of life.
The ambassador of Venezuela, Javier Arrúe, described the mechanism founded by late president of that nation Hugo Chavez and the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, as a proposal of solidarity that carries the región away from the capitalist scheme.
Representatives of parliamentary friendship groups with Cuba, Ecuador, Bolivia and Venezuela, as well as ambassador of nations like Costa Rica, Brazil, Argentina, Dominican Republic, Russia and El Salvador attended the meeting.
The Alliance has nine member countries:: Antigua and Barbuda, Cuba, Bolivia, Dominica, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Saint Lucía, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Venezuela.
