UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova met with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez , during the visit the latter carried out to France, a press release says today.
During the meeting, Bokova and Rodriguez analyzed the state of relations between the Caribbean island and UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).
They also discussed other issues related to the agenda and mandate of the Organization, particularly its leadership regarding education, and Cuba's results in the recent published World Report on educational sphere.
They also analyzed the Post-2015 Development Agenda and the incidence of such body in the process.
About this issue, Bokova stressed Cuba's role and leadership to include the issue of culture and development as an objective of the Agenda.
Cuban ambassador to UNESCO Dulce Maria Buergo, and Juan Antonio Fernandez, president of the Cuban National Commission for UNESCO, attended the meeting.
The Cuban foreign minister concluded yesterday an official two-day visit to France, as part of a tour that will also take him to Belgium, Luxembourg and Netherlands.
