The Cuba-Kenya Business Forum will meet today in the Taganana Room of the Hotel Nacional, in Havana, as part of the efforts and aspirations of both nations to strengthen and increase economic and commercial ties.
The meeting will take place within the scope of the reverse business mission to Cuba of the Kenyan agency Walulu Trade and Investment Advisory Associates (WATRA-Africa), and the accompanying business delegation.
As reported by the Chamber of Commerce, on this occasion a significant number of companies from the sectors will be received: food agribusiness, tourism, education, health, ICTs, energy, construction and sports.
Its directors or representatives will learn about the opportunities and facilities that Cuba offers in terms of foreign investment and foreign trade, in addition to exchanging with businessmen from the Island in these fields.
On December 19, 2022, Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel received Alfred Mutua, Foreign Minister of Kenya, during a meeting in which both parties ratified their desire to strengthen relations.
At the Palace of the Revolution, the president confirmed to the Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Diaspora his willingness to expand exchanges with the African nation, with which there are strong ties.
Havana and Nairobi established diplomatic relations in 1995 and bilateral cooperation is carried out mainly in the educational and health sectors.
Diplomatic sources from that country announced last year their interest in extending the agreements to sports, the biopharmaceutical industry, commerce, agriculture and culture.
In 2022, Inés María Chapman, Deputy Prime Minister, and Bruno Rodríguez, Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited Kenya.
