Cuba and China completed the 15th session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between the two countries today, ending with the signing of a bilateral economic agenda for the coming five years.
Rodrigo Malmierca, Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, told Prensa Latina that the agenda will facilitate working in a more organized fashion and with a medium-term goal.
In one of the halls of the Ministry of Commerce of China, located in the center of Beijing, Malmierca described the session as successful, mentioning that it also included the adoption of nine documents on concrete economic projects and the Final Act of the Intergovernmental Commission.
"We have broad prospects in trade between the two countries, and China has established itself as Cuba's second largest trading partner," said the minister, who commented that he was satisfied with the visit to the Asian nation.
Malmierca also announced a seminar to be held tomorrow here on the creation of the Economic Development Zone at Mariel, located some 45 kilometers west of Havana, something he said has aroused great interest here.
Since his arrival in Beijing on Saturday, September 21, the Cuban minister has met with many companies and banking entities in China, as well as with Li Bin, minister for National Health and Family Planning.
