Carlos Banteur and Ronniel Iglesias added their victories to the seven the Cuba’s boxing squad participating in the Olympic Games already had to accumulate nine victories and one loss.
Banteur, 22, defeated British Billy Joe Saunders 13-6, who had beaten him at the Stranzha tournament in Bulgaria this year.
In the next round Banteur will face Egyptian Osma Abdim, who amazingly defeated Thai Non Boojumnong, Chicago 2007 World Championships silver medalist.
Ronniel Iglesias achieved the Caribbean country’s ninth victory by beating Driss Moussaid from Egypt 15-4.
