The 10th Congress of Marine Sciences ends sessions today with a lecture on oceanography and sustainable development, by Vladimir Ryabinin, Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission at UNESCO.
Following that speech is the presentation of the conclusive report of the Scientific Committee.
The event held yesterday a lecture on oceanography at the University of Rhode Island, by professor of that higher education center, Bruce Corliss.
The event included a roundtable discussion, where representatives of the Cuban Oceonology Institute, the Center for Marine Research, and other entities, will discuss on those sciences in the Caribbean nation.
According to the president of the Oceanographic Committee of the event, Guillermo Garcia, about 103 U.S. visitors, mostly as listeners, are attending this event at the Havanas Conference Center.
As part of the restoration of diplomatic relations between Havana and Washington, the Congress featured 37 works by American speakers, and three executives from institutions of that nation gave lectures.
