The Cuban film season "Five Films, Five Friends," in Porto, Portugal, denounces the injustice against The Five anti-terrorist Cuban fighters held in US prisons for over eleven years.
Each Friday, a film is screened as part of this retrospective organized by the Porto Regional Committee against the US Blockade and for Solidarity with the Cuban People (PORTOCOMCUBA), running through June 18 with a large gathering devoted to The Five.
Gerardo Hernandez, Rene Gonzalez, Ramon Labanino, Fernando Gonzalez and Antonio Guerrero are serving harsh sentences in US prisons for penetreting criminal anti-Cuban groups based in Florida.
The film retrospective includes "Waiting List" by Juan Carlos Tabio, "Memories of Underdevelopment" by Gutierrez Alea, "Havana Blues" by Benito Zambrano, "Kangamba" by Rogelio Paris and "Long Live Cuba" by Juan Carlos Cremata.
Cuban Ambassador to Lisbon Eduardo Gonzalez Lerner and Portuguese journalist, writer Miguel Urbano are expected to attend the closing of the event, according to organizers.
