The Solidarity with Cuba Movement in the eastern Bolivian city of Santa Cruz reiterated its support for the island as it faces hostile U.S. policy, and called for the release of the Cuban anti-terrorist fighters remaining in U.S. prisons.

After a departmental meeting of the abovementioned organization, participants issued a statement, to which Prensa Latina had access, which also mentioned the problems the world is experiencing and the need to ensure a healthy lifestyle for its inhabitants.

The text recalls Marti's precept that "whoever rises today with Cuba, rises for all time," especially from the land where the Argentine-Cuban guerrilla Ernesto Guevara spilled his blood.

The Movement of Solidarity condemned the blockade imposed against Cuba for more than 50 years, and said it is committed to developing actions to lift that measure, a proposal supported at the U.N. General Assembly from 1992 to date.

"After 15 years of unjust imprisonment, we demand the immediate release of the Cuban anti-terrorist fighters still imprisoned, for monitoring terrorist groups protected in U.S. territory. We will continue to hold activities to bring this case to the attention of the Bolivian and American people."
