Spaniards Demand Release of Cuban Antiterrorists
The emblematic Puerta del Sol square in Madrid welcomed a call on Sunday to demand the release of four Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in U.S. prisons after a biased trial, their defense team said.

The emblematic Puerta del Sol square in Madrid welcomed a call on Sunday to demand the release of four Cuban antiterrorist fighters unjustly held in U.S. prisons after a biased trial, their defense team said.
At the event, the Madrid Committee for the Release of the Five demanded the return home of Gerardo Hernandez, Fernando Gonzalez, Ramon Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, members of the group known as The Five, which also includes Rene Gonzalez. The latter is in Cuba after completing his prison sentence.
Wearing orange costumes similar to the uniform of inmates in U.S. prisons and signs with photos of the Five, as they are known internationally, the Spanish activists briefed participants and visitors about their cases.
Jose Luis Garcia de Mingo, one of the organizers, said that the campaign started ten years ago when the committee was set up and will not end until the antiterrorists return to Cuba.
In statements to Prensa Latina, Garcia Mingo stated that the Cuban antiterrorist fighters are innocents, because they were gathering information on U.S. territory about extremist groups to prevent terrorist actions against their country.
