Cuba's government granted the Medal of Friendship to Kwon Sung Chol, the departing Ambassador to Cuba of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, on Wednesday.
The distinction, granted by the Cuban Council of State through Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez, was awarded during an official ceremony at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Havana. It acknowledges Kwon Sung Chol for his outstanding efforts to strengthen bonds of cooperation and mutual help.
Cuba's deputy Foreign Minister, Marcos Rodriguez, highlighted at the event the contributions made by Kwon Sung Chol to strengthen bilateral ties.Marcos Rodriguez commented that the ties of the Korean Diplomat with the island date back to 1973, when he arrived in Cuba to study at the University of Havana.
