The foreign ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) refused in this capital today the U.S. economic blockade on Cuba, and called to stop that unilateral and extraterritorial punitive measure.
During the discussion of the16th NAM Summit's final document that the heads of State and Government will put to those present for consideration tomorrow, the foreign ministers urged the U.S. government to end the economic, trade and financial blockade on Cuba.
They deplored that in addition to being unilateral and contrary to the UN Charter, international law, and the principle of good neighbors, that U.S. policy "has caused huge material losses and economic damages to the Cuban people."
The foreign ministers also urged the Obama administration to comply with the 20 resolutions adopted by the UN General Assembly that called to stop a siege led to asphyxiate the Cuban Revolution.
The NAM, refers the draft final document to which Prensa Latina has access, expressed "deep concern" about the increasing extraterritorial nature of the blockade on Cuba, and rejected the measures Washington approved to worsen it.
They also failed all other projects implemented by the U.S. government against the Cuban people, and exhorted it to return to the Cuban sovereignty the territory illegally occupied by the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo.
NAM foreign ministers called on the White House to end the aggressive radio and television transmissions against Cuba, and recalled that those measures are a violation of the island's sovereignty and human rights.
