The main human rights violation in Cuba is the US blockade, said a Cuban report made before the Universal Periodic Review of the Human Rights Council and presented here Tuesday.
Cuban Foreign Affairs Vice Minister Abelardo Moreno said that the report involved almost all the institutions of the Cuban government and others, in a wide and ample participation process.
Moreno stressed that his country is subjected to the UPR "without discrimination, without double standards and without selectivity".
He said that the Cuban Revolution was made for the promotion and defense of human rights on the island, despite "colossal difficulties blocking, aggressions and terrorist acts".
He said the Cuban government has enshrined in its laws the indivisibility and interdependence of all human rights, political, social and economic.
In the past 55 years in Cuba there have been no extrajudicial executions, enforced disappearances and torture, he said.
He contrasted the United States maintains a Cuban territory at Guantánamo, "a military base converted into a detention and torture center, according to international reports."
The presentation of the report was made in videoconferencing Geneva, headquarters of the Human Rights Council, attended by American diplomats and other personalities.
