President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema, praised the high level of relations and cooperation that his country maintains with Cuba.
The confidence among our Parties, States and Governments is high, said Teodoro Obiang Nguema during a ceremony at the Government Palace, in which the Cuban ambassador Pedro Dona was decorated with the Grand Cross of the Order of Independence, as a reward and recognition for the services to Equatorial Guinea.
Dona completed his four-year mission in Malabo, and the President thanked and highlighted the work of the Cuban diplomat, who "was able to win the confidence of the Government and the people of Equatorial Guinea".
Meanwhile, Dona said that the new ambassador along with the group of the Cuban embassy will continue to make the best effort to further strengthen the ties of friendship and cooperation.
Dona said that he dedicates the Grand Cross to whom most deserves it, "the main promoter of the relations of solidarity with Africa, the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, who celebrates this 90th birthday on August 13".
He also dedicates the Grand Cross to the Cuban cooperation staff that works very professionally in this country and to the officials of the Cuban mission, who supported him in fulfilling his responsibilities.
Before the ceremony, the Cuban ambassador held a comprehensive and cordial meeting with Obiang Nguema, in which discussed bilateral and international issues.
According to sources, during the ceremony was also decorated Marcelina Iliana Gonzalez, Dona's wife, with the Silver Medal of the Order of Independence.
