Japanese Cultural Personalities against US Blockade of Cuba

Writer Ryu Murakami is among the group of Japanese personalities from the field of culture that have joined the call of Cuban intellectuals against Washington's blockade of Cuba.
Some thirty personalities are among the more than 7,400 academicians, philosophers, artists, poets and narrators from 90 countries that have signed the document only released 20 days ago. Among them are film-maker Kazuo Yamada, photographer Akitoshi Kondo (with photos of Che Guevara and Fidel Castro among his works) and artist Antonio Koga.
Musicians, sculptors, theatre people and recording executives from Japan have also backed this call, which demands the end of the US blockade against Cuba to facilitate recovery after the devastation caused by hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
Personalities from the field of culture from Latin American nations, the United States, Europe, Asia and Africa, have supported the message of Cuban intellectuals to their colleagues from around the world. That solidarity has been also expressed with donations of works of art and others, all destined for the victims of the two hurricanes.
More than 200 US creators have responded rapidly to the call, entitled Con Cuba Hoy, (With Cuba Today), which can be accessed by writing www.concubahoy.cult.cu <http://www.concubahoy.cult.cu/> on the Internet.
