Cuba presents its revolutionary achievements at UNESCO Conference

Cuba is participating in the 40th Session of the UNESCO General Conference by presenting its revolutionary achievements, Culture Minister Alpidio Alonso, leading the delegation of the Caribbean country, said in Paris.

During an interview with Prensa Latina regarding the event taking place from November 12 to 27, Alonso highlighted Cuba's active contribution of its experiences in the fields of education, culture and science to the forum.

'We came to express the ideas we defend on the conditions required for the world to aspire to sustainable and harmonious development, which include inclusive access to the areas under UNESCO competence,' he stated.

According to the official, Cuba can proudly and modestly show progress in these areas, based on the political will of the Revolution since its triumph on January 1, 1959, to promote education, science and culture.

The General Conference takes place in a complex international context, marked by questions and attacks on multilateralism, which confirms the importance of the forum as a space to promote respect for differences, identity, sovereignty and the right of all peoples to development and peace, he noted.

The official said Cuba also attends the UNESCO General Conference with the aim of denouncing to the international community the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States for almost 60 years.
