      • Speech delivered at a momentous mass demonstration opposite the Presidential Palace where one million people gathered to support revolutionary justice, as part of Operation Truth, and condemn the United States government on its decision to provide refuge to war criminals and embezzlers of public funds. An announcement was made by Fidel that he would make a proposal to the 26th of July Movement leadership for comrade Raúl Castro to be appointed as Second-in-Command of the Movement.
      • Press conference given to representatives of the foreign media at Habana Riviera Hotel, as part of Operation Truth, to refute international media manipulation of the legitimate trials that were being held by revolutionary justice against Batista dictatorship henchmen who had committed crimes against the people.
      • Reception held in Habana Hilton Hotel (today Habana Libre) in honor of the diplomatic corps accredited in Cuba.
      • A visitto Revolución newspaper where he proofread his speech delivered at the Presidential Palace the day before.
      • Departs from Columbia Airport on his first visit abroad as Head of the Cuban Revolution.  He is accompanied by Pedro Miret, Celia Sánchez, Paco Cabrera, Violeta Casals, Luis Orlando Rodriguez and other comrades.  
      • Before landing in Venezuela, he broadcasts a radio message via several stations to the people waiting to welcome him.
      • The plane carrying the leader of the Cuban Revolution lands at 1:25 pm at  Maiquetía Airport. 
      • The caravan travels the highway route from Maiquetía to Caracas, cheered by thousands of people with Latin American flags and signs supporting the Cuban Revolution.  
      • The Governing Junta hosts a luncheon for him at the elegant El Pinar Restaurant. 
      • He takes part at the People’s Ceremony, attended by thousands at the Plaza Aérea del Silencio de Caracas. Press reports calclate there are more than 300,000 people present. Fabricio Ojeda, Wolfgang  Larrazábal, Gustavo Machado, Jovito Villalba (top leader of the Unión Republicana Democrática-URD), union leaders José González Navarro and Jesús Carmona, and Sierra Maestra combatants José Enrique Mendoza, Orestes Valera and Luis Orlando Rodríguez speak. Thunderous applause preceeds Fidel Castro’s speech: for  2 hours he talks about the liberation struggle in Cuba and defends the right to apply revolutionary justice.
      • He is received by the Caracas Municipal Council.  They declare him Guest of Honour during a Solemn Session.   
      • At 12:00 noon he attends a Joint Session of the houses of the Venezuelan Congress meeting to honour him.  He gives a speech serenely and slowly analyzing the drama of Our America.  Before concluding, he reads a document that he wrote five days after the coup d’état of March 10, 1952.   
      • In the afternoon he visits the University campus.  He is welcomed at the main auditorium by Rector Francisco De Venanzi together with the University Council, the entire teaching staff and all the students.  In his speech, Fidel explains the beginnings and orientation of the Revolution, referring to the necessary solidarity with the struggle of the people of the Dominican Republic and he proposes the need to create an information agency at the service of democracy and the peoples of  the Americas. 
      • From the University, he goes on to Miraflores Palace where he meets with the Governing Junta. 
      • In the evening, Cuban Ambassador Francisco Pividal hosts a reception in his honour.  A press conference is improvised on the roof-top of the  residence of the Cuban ambassador, with the participation of more than 50 journalists of various nationalities.
      • Early in the morning he travels by cable car to the Summit of the majestic El Ávila hill.
      • He has a prívate meeting with the Venezualan President-elect Rómulo Betancourt, at his residence in Baruta.
      • At 1:00 a.m.of that day, a Tuesday, Fidel and his entourage return to Cuba from  Maiquetía Airport at the end of their historic visit to Venezuela. In a surprise crash at the airport, dies Commander Paco Cabrera, beaten by the propellers of an airplane.
      • Return to the Homeland, after the trip to Venezuela, the first one after the Triumph of the Revolution.
      • A visit to Revolución newspaper, a press organ of the 26th of July Movement. 
      • Meeting with athletes, sports leaders and journalists at Ciudad Deportiva (Sports City) Coliseum.

      • Fidel attends Cerro Stadium in Havana, watching the game between the Sugar Kings and the US team from Minneapolis. He throws out the first ball, thus inaugurating the mini-world series.
