• The Bohemia magazine publishes an article in its Sunday issue under the title: “The 26th of July Movement", signed by Fidel on 19 March in Mexico City.

  • He writes in Mexico City the article entitled: “¿Qué delito han cometido?” (What crime have they committed?) regarding the events in Cuba concerning the so-called "Conspiracy of the Pure " within the Armed Forces. In spite of not sharing the conspirators’ way of confronting the tyranny, Fidel defends the conspirators who tried to save what was still “pure” about the ranks of the Armed Forces. He ratifies his conviction that popular insurrection is the only well-aimed revolutionary path involving civilians and military alike.

  • He writes a communiqué to the Patriotic Clubs of the United States, which he sends that same day with Juan Manuel Márquez, who travels from Mexico City to the United States.

  • He visits combatant Arnaldo Pérez from Artemisa, who had arrived in Mexico via Veracruz port on 21 April.

  • He returns to Mexico City after a week’s stay in Tapachula, where he meets Justo Carrillo, a lawyer and economist, who got involved as a civilian in the failed "Conspiracy of the Pure".

  • Aldabonazo, the newspaper of the 26th of July Revolutionary Movement, publishes its article entitled: “The 26th of July Movement and the Military Conspiracy”.
  • He meets with Luis Crespo, a young revolutionary who had arrived in Mexico City the day before from Havana.

  • He participates in the modest birthday celebration that María Antonia González prepared at her home in Mexico City for his brother Raúl Castro who was turning 25 years old.

  • He receives Arsenio García, a young revolutionary from Güines, who had been sent to Mexico City by the leadership of the 26th of July Movement in the Island, in order to brief him on the situation in Cuba and give him the money raised in preparation for the expedition.

  • Together with Raúl and other comrades, he welcomes the young woman from Santiago de Cuba Vilma Espín Guillois at the Mexico City Airport. She had finished her postgraduate studies in the US city of Boston and she was on her way back to Cuba.

  • He lays a floral tribute in the funeral honors on the occasion of the first anniversary of Jorge Agostini’s murder. The service was held at San Hipolito Temple, at Avenida Hidalgo y Zarco in Mexico City.
  • He is a witness at the wedding of fighter Reinaldo Benítez and young Mexican Piedad Solís.
  • He departs for Pedregal de San Ángel accompanied by comrade Vilma Espín, where he gives her instructions for Frank País and gives her several letters which he finished writing right there at 4:30 a.m.
  • He departs by air together with Gustavo Arcos from Mexico City to San José, Costa Rica, in order to meet the small group of Cuban exiles who have stayed there, including Moncada’s assailants José Ramón Martínez Álvarez, José Ramón Ponce Díaz, and Jaime Costa Chávez, and to make arrangements with some personalities of the Central American country who could collaborate with the insurrectional plans.
