Members of the Cuban Young Communist League (UJC, in Spanish) are debating on Wednesday, the first official day of the 12th Congress of the organization, crucial issues of society, and the challenges of the new generations.

Some 400 delegates and nearly 100 guests are analyzing in commissions issues related to the organic functioning of the UJC, the organization’s cadre policy, and the defense of the homeland.

The 22nd National Congress of Urology of Cuba begins in Havana today with the attendance of delegates from several countries.

Cuban clinical trial on poliomyelitis at the request of WHO

A new clinical trial on poliomyelitis began in Cuba at the request of the World Health Organization, as the country has not presented any reported cases of polio since its eradication.
 
The trial is being carried out in the eastern province of Camagüey and seeks to investigate whether a 0.1 mL dose of the Inactivated Poliovirus Vaccine is more effective than the 0.5 mL dose used in other countries.
 
Cuba was the first country in America to eliminate this highly contagious childhood disease, since 1962.
