Cuban and Venezuelan doctors intensify actions in Nueva Esparta

Venezuelan health authorities along with the Cuban Medical Mission are deploying several strategies for the epidemiological control of Nueva Esparta state, one of the most affected areas by the novel SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

On Thursday, a special day of research took place in Isla Margarita, hand in hand with the Barrio Adentro Mission, a government program focused on providing free healthcare to thousands of communities throughout the Venezuelan territory and has close cooperation between Cuban and Venezuelan medical personnel.

The actions aimed at containing the massive spread of the disease were chaired by only Health authority Mayra Velazquez and the coordinator of the Barrio Adentro Foundation Mission, Aida Pilar.

The medical collaboration agreement between Cuba and Venezuela was founded 20 years ago at the initiative of Commanders Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez.

This Thursday, Tania Diaz, Vice President of the National Constituent Assembly, thanked Cuban Ambassador Dagoberto Rodriguez for the island's help in the fight against the coronavirus and pointed out that without the work of Cuban doctors, it would not have been possible to obtain the results this nation has to curb the pandemic.
