Diaz-Canel stresses high priority to Cuba-Laos ties
President Miguel Díaz-Canel remarked that Cuba gives high priority to friendship and cooperation with the people, Communist Party and government of Laos.
In his Twitter account, the president reaffirmed that “neither geographical distance, nor cultural differences, nor more than two years of pandemic have been an obstacle” to the development of bilateral relations.
Díaz-Canel held the day before a meeting via videoconference with the general secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and president of that nation, Thongloun Sisoulith.
From the Palace of the Revolution in Havana (seat of the Government) the Cuban head of State expressed to Sisoulith satisfaction with the dialogue, after the contact between the two in November 2018, when the Asian leader was Prime Minister.
He thanked the Lao Party, Government and people for the permanent support to Cuba and its Revolution, including the condemnation of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade, and Laos’ contributions to the Covid-19 confrontation.
Addressing relations between the two countries, the Cuban president made proposals to boost economic ties and expand collaboration in the areas of health, education, sports, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and agriculture.
