WFDY Condemns US Blockade of Cuba

The World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) condemned on Wednesday the almost-fifty-year-old financial,
economic and trade blockade imposed by the United States on the Cuban people.

In a declaration from Budapest, Hungary, that was published on Thursday by Juventud Rebelde news daily, the WFDY also criticizes the hypocrisy of the US government and its promises to help Cuba after the devastation caused by hurricanes Gustav and Ike.

“It is embarrassing that they try to use the USAID, an organization that has publicly admitted that it has used money from US tax payers in their dirty war against Cuba to generate subversion and carry out espionage,” the text reads.

The declaration adds that the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), “which executes CIA plans, is one of the main weapons of the US government to maintain its control over several regions of the world, particularly Latin America and Africa.”

“The WFDY admires the attitude of Cuban youths, who are actively participating in the reconstruction of their country, with the certainty that the future of the Cuban Revolution is guaranteed by the new generations,” the text stresses.
